Bracelet Size vs Bangle Size: What’s the Difference?

How to measure wrist size for different jwellery. Bracelets are usually flexible and have adjustable chains or clasps. They fit around your wrist and can adapt to slight variations in size. Using your wrist circumference and a little extra space depending on how tight or loose you like the fit, you can determine the size of the bracelet. This is the same for wrist watches; they also fit around like a bracelet.

Conversely, bangles lack a clasp and are typically round and stiff. They need to be big enough to fit over your hand without being too loose to spin around on your wrist. Because the bangle must fit through your wrist, you must measure the widest portion of your hand when determining the size of your bangle. In summary if you are wondering how to measure wrist size:

  • Bracelet/Watch size = based on wrist circumference
  • Bangle size = based on hand circumference (around knuckles)

How to measure bracelet size

  • First Step:  Get a measuring device.
Make use of a soft measuring tape, such as those used in tailoring. If you don’t have one, use a ruler and a piece of paper, ribbon, or string.
  • Second Step: Cover Your Wrist
The tape or paper should be wrapped around the widest portion of your wrist, which is typically just below the wrist bone. Make sure it fits comfortably without being too tight.
  • Third step: Measure the length and make a note of the measurement mark where the paper or tape meets. This is the circumference of your wrist.
    • Add Fit Preference in Step Four
    • Add ¼” (0.6 cm) for a snug fit.
    • Add ½” (1.3 cm) for comfort fit.
    • Add ¾” (1.9 cm) for a loose fit.

Bracelet Length vs Bracelet Size — Are They Different?

✅ Bracelet Length: This is the bracelet’s actual length, including the clasp, when it is laid flat.
It is frequently mentioned in product descriptions and is measured using a tape or ruler.
For instance, a bracelet with a length of 7 inches from end to end is 7 inches long.

✅ Bracelet Size : This typically indicates that the bracelet will fit the desired wrist size.
Your wrist measurement and your preferred fit—loose, snug, or comfortable—will determine this.
For comfort, a person with a wrist measurement of 6.5 inches might require a bracelet size of 7 inches.

How to measure bangle size

  • First, make a fist.
Like you were putting on a bangle, bring all of your fingers together. Make sure your thumb touches your little finger’s base. This is the widest opening that your bangle needs to go through.
  • Then, Encircle Your Knuckles with String or Paper
Wrap the paper or string around your knuckles, the widest part of your hand, without making it too tight.
  • Continue,  Measure and Mark
Mark the intersection of the paper or string ends. After that, lay it flat and measure its length in inches or centimetres using a ruler. This is the circumference of your hand.
  • Lastly, Determine the Size of Your Bangles
From a bangle size chart, use the measurement to determine your bangle size. For instance:
    • 7 inches (17.8 cm) = Size 2-4
    • 7.5 inches (19 cm) = Size 2-6
    • 8 inches (20.3 cm) = Size 2-8
